Walt Disney, an American entrepreneur, film producer, and animator changed the world of entertainment. Starting from a sketch of a meek rabbit, Disney’s career escalated and became a mega empire. Younger generations today will hear Mickey Mouse and the first thing that comes to mind is Disney, but what people don’t know is that Walt Disney’s simple sketches are what turned Disney into one of the largest entertainment complexes today. Walt Disney was born in Hermosa, Chicago, IL, on December 5, 1901 to a Canadian farmer, Elias Disney and former school teacher, Flora Call Disney. He was the fourth of five children in his family, four boys and one girl. Walt was raised on a Midwestern farm between Marceline, Missouri and Kansas City. On the farm during Disney s free time, he and his older brother, Roy would go to the farm and do chores. Walt attended school at McKinley High School and he took part in drawing and writing cartoons for the school s newspaper. Walt and his brother Roy would both have to wake up at 3:30 in the morning to start their paper routes before school.
